Grow together.

If you're seeking therapy to recommit to the love in your relationship that may have gotten lost along the way, I am here to help.

There are few things that light me up like watching couples learn to connect more deeply, fight more productively and kindly, and understand each other’s vulnerability.

Approach

I use a blend of techniques with my couples because I believe there is great value in the practical skills of Gottman and the attachment focus of EFT.

The Gottman Method

The Gottman Method is a research-backed approach, which focuses on skill-building, practical and actionable tools, and building up a sound relationship house built on friendship.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

I blend in parts of EFT, which is focused on attachment and connection. This allows couples to show each other the true tenderness inside.

FAQs

Ilana, how do I know if you are the right therapist for me?

The research has proven that change in therapy is not based on how much experience the therapist has or what techniques they use. Instead, it is based on the connection between the client and therapist. So, when choosing a therapist, I urge you to listen to your intuition and pick someone you feel safe with, who you can be yourself with, and who speaks your emotional language.

Do things have to be “bad” to go to couples therapy?

No way! The best time to “do the work” is preventatively, before things get dire and resentments build.

Do you see clients in person or virtually?

Both! I see clients in person at Intuitive Healing Psychotherapy Practice in Midtown Manhattan or virtually.

How long are sessions and how often do we meet?

Couples sessions are 60 or 75 minutes. I generally start with 75 minutes for intake and then move down to 60 minutes, but it depends on the couple! We will begin meeting weekly and may slowly move to less frequency when appropriate.

Can’t we meet bi-weekly or as needed?

Consistency equals growth in therapy so in the same way I expect myself to show up for you, I also expect YOU to show up for yourself and your relationship. I have found that meeting bi-weekly ends up turning into a catch up of the content of the last two weeks and is a barrier to deeper work.

Do you take insurance?

I am not in-network with any insurance panels but I can provide monthly Superbills for reimbursement through out-of-network benefits.

What about cost?

Couples sessions are $250/60-minute session and $300/75-minute session. Sliding scale rates are available for those who qualify.
